Please bring your photo ID, insurance card, and a copy of a doctor’s referral if your insurance
requires one.
Your therapist will perform certain tests and measurements in order to determine which intervention
will result in returning you to full, pain-free function as quickly as possible. Possible interventions
include joint mobilizations, application of therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercises, patient
education, massage, home exercise program implementation, etc.
You should expect your first visit to last about an hour to an hour and a half. Subsequent visits
typically last about 45 minutes to an hour.
Visit frequency will be determined by your therapist after your initial visit based on your plan of care
and progress.
Direct Access allows physical therapists to perform a consultation on any patient without a physician
referral. Some insurance plans, however, do require a prescription from your physician in order to
pay for physical therapy services.
Whether or not a referral is required depends on the type of insurance that you have. Typically, PPO
and POS Open Access plans do not require doctor referrals; Medicare and HMO plans do. Please
feel free to call us, so that we may pre-verify your insurance coverage and
determine if a referral is necessary.
